These comic book creators have shaped the way we envision our favorite stories, characters and arcs that could last years. We honor our creators by bringing them to you to show off their work. Each year, we carefully curate a list of creators that all do amazing work on both local and national stages.

Bob Almond

Two years after graduating with a BFA in Illustration at the UMass Dartmouth art college Bob broke in at Marvel Comics in 1992 as a professional inker on Warlock & the Infinity Watch series which led to numerous projects at Marvel for the next decade straight like Guardians of the Galaxy, Star Trek: DS9 and later Annihilation: Conquest-Quasar and Heroes for Hire.
Most significant was his 3 years of work as inker/storyteller with Christopher Priest and Sal Velluto on Marvel's Black Panther from 1999-2002. This highly-acclaimed series won Bob two Squiddy Awards for "Best Inker" (2001-2002) along with one for "Best Creative Team" (2002).
In 2018, Bob and his fellow Black Panther creative partners Priest & Velluto were invited by Marvel Studios to view the Hollywood LA world premiere of BLACK PANTHER where all three were credited with "Special Thanks" as Storytellers whose work influenced key elements in the film.
Bob has also acted as a columnist for his inker-centric "Inkblots" column for Sketch Magazine and First Comics News from 2007-2010. This led to his founding of the non-profit Inkwell Awards in 2008 where he acts as director and treasurer.
He co-created the company spokesmodel Ms. Inkwell and she will be in attendance at this event for the 3rd time. As the only organization/advocacy of its kind on the planet it promotes and educates about the oft-misunderstood art form of inking and recognizes the best artists of inking in the field.

Mark Bagley



Mark Bagley, raised in a military family and one of seven siblings, loved comics growing up and always dreamed of becoming a professional comic penciler. In 1983 Marvel comics published The Marvel Try-Out Contest. Mark entered and won first place. Mark’s first published work was for Marvel’s New Universe’s Nightmask.

During his long career Mark has worked on virtually every Marvel title. He is known for long, successful runs on titles such as The New Warriors and The Thunderbolts. He is best known for his work on The Amazing Spider-Man, including the creation of the villain Carnage and then there was his and Brian Bendis’ incredible record setting run on Ultimate Spider-Man.

Mark left Marvel to work for DC, and for 3 years worked on such titles as Batman, Trinity, and Justice League. He returned to Marvel to work on The Death of Ultimate Spider-man. The Fantastic Four, The Hulk, The X-men, and a recent run on a number of Spiderman titles. Having recently semi-retired from monthly interior work, Mark is focusing on penciling and inking covers and commissions.

Mark lives in Georgia with his wonderful wife Pattie, and near his daughter and three awesome grandkids, and is still thrilled to be a part of the comic book creating profession.

Brett Breeding

Brett Breeding has enjoyed nearly forty-six years as a comic book artist, illustrating and creating characters for Marvel and DC Comics as well as numerous independent publishers. Primarily known for his finished inks over pencilers George Perez, Ron Frenz, Dan Jurgens, Bob Hall, and Kerry Gammill, Brett has also done penciling, traditional and computer coloring, as well as story development and plotting. He is a co-creator of DC Comics characters Doomsday, Blaze, Lord Satanus and Shadowdragon as well as Marvel Comics’ Dargo Thor.
Brett has worked on many titles for Marvel and DC Comics, but is most recognized for his work on the Superman titles, notably the “Death of Superman” storyline, as well as the Spider-Man titles, The Mighty Thor, The Avengers and West Coast Avengers, the Hawkeye Limited Series and the first comic series featuring the Thundercats. While working on Thor #390 with Ron Frenz, Brett originated the idea that Steve Rogers would be worthy to wield Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir, and Ron and writer Tom DeFalco made it a key part of the story. Over 30 years later Brett’s idea would be immortalized on the big screen as a key moment in Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame.
Brett regularly produces licensing art for DC Comics and Warner Brothers Consumer Products, and in 2012 he created numerous children’s books and digital interactive iPad apps featuring Superman and Batman for WB Global Publishing which are avail digitally on Amazon.
Recently, Brett returned to Marvel, inking occasional covers and interior story pages, as well as special projects for the MCU. In 2022, for the first time in over 25 years, Brett again teamed up with Dan Jurgens on Superman to create artwork for the main story for the 30th Anniversary of The Death of Superman Special Edition comic, followed in 2023 with the 30th Anniversary of the Reign of the Supermen Special Edition. They continue to team up on covers for Marvel and DC special projects. Their next project is the Superman Treasury Edition book to coincide with the new Superman Movie and this year’s “Summer of Superman” promotion.

Buzz the Artist

Buzz is a comic book artist known for his work on JSA, VAMPIRELLA,ATOMIKA, , X-FACTOR,SHI and many more. A 36 year veteran of comic books, he is also a very popular and sought after commission artist among the art collectors and the comic-book convention circuit.

Demands for Buzz's art has grown more recently with variant covers to many popular tiles.His variant covers to Vampirella, Red Sonja, Power Rangers Shattered Grid comics, Elvira Mistress of the Dark,Usagi Yojimbo,Fight Girls, Ninjak, Hardlee Thinn, and the acclaimed Batman vs The Maxx were quickly sold out after their release.

Buzz is also a multi-EMMY award winning commercial artist who has worked with CBS, FOX, Los Angeles LAKERS and The United States Marine Corp

Alex Cormack

Alex Cormack is the Bram Stoker nominated Illustrator who’s work includes SEA OF SORROWS, ROAD OF BONES, SINK, WEED MAGIC, CROSSING, HARDCORE AKAN (the prequel to the film Hardcore Henry), and a bunch more. He lives in Vermont with his wife, son, and his cat Destruction.

Tom DeFalco

Tom DeFalco is a comic book author and editor. He began his writing career at Archie Comics before moving on to Marvel Comics. During his time at Marvel, he created the character "Dazzler" and became the writer of one of the most popular periods for Spider-Man in the 1980s. He was also the co-creator of "Spider-Girl" with Ron Frenz, a regular collaborator.

In 1987, DeFalco became editor-in-chief at Marvel, succeeding Jim Shooter, a position he stayed in until 1994. During his tenure, he continued to write on a number of series, including Thor and the Fantastic Four.

Sam de la Rosa

Since 1982 Sam de la Rosa has finished art/inked/drawn for Marvel, DC, Image, Disney, and Dark Horse. Credits, include Spider-Man, Venom, Carnage, Black Panther, The Avengers, Star Wars, X-Men and more.
He worked on Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Star Trek, Firestorm and others for DC Comics. In 1989 at Dark Horse Comics, he worked on the 1st and 2nd Predator comic books. Sam's work on VENOM LETHAL PROTECTOR #1-6 and Venom Separation Anxiety 1-4 is the main basis for the VENOM MOVIE. VENOM: Let There Be CARNAGE Movie is based on Maximum Carnage which Sam penciled/inked its conclusion over layouts also worked on.
His work on Maximum Carnage and Venom Separation Anxiety were made into video games. So far this year he drew covers for Venom Lethal Protector II #1, The Uncanny Spider-Man #1, Predator vs Wolverine #2, Superior Spider-Man vs Doc Ock #3, and Wolverine:Madripoor Kights.

Matthew DiMasi

Pop culture mosaic artist Matthew DiMasi of Concord NH creates one of a kind mosaic replicas of famous vintage comic books using shattered pieces of glossy colored ceramic tile.
Matt sketches the entire cover on a 4x3 ft custom built frame with tile board backer. Each piece is then glued to the frame over the course a several months and hundreds of hours. Black sanded grout provides the finishing touch, and the frame is then professionally painted glossy black lacquer.

Matt’s work has been published on multiple current Marvel Comics, which have become known as the “Shattered Variants”. Honoring the great comic artists by putting my mosaic “spin” on their iconic covers has been the most rewarding part!”

Mike Doherty

Mike Doherty is a local comic book pop culture artist who has been part of the scene for the past 30 years. He has worked for fright rags on the John Carpenter’s Halloween trading cards as a sketch card artist. He can be found on Facebook and @sherpa12345 on Instagram

Randy Emberlin

Randy Emberlin has spent the past 30 years working in a variety of creative fields. Whether as an illustrator of educational books or an animator on over 50 television commercials, he has made his presence felt through style and sensibilities.

Over the last 20 years he is probably best known for his work as an inker in comics, with a resume that includes long runs on Amazing Spider-man, GI Joe, Doctor Strange, Alien Legion, Ghost and recently the Left Behind series for Wildstorm. He has worked with a wide range of pencilers and has many distinctive styles that fans are well acquainted with.

He currently resides in Portland Oregon with his wife and two children.

Danny Fingeroth

Danny Fingeroth is a longtime cultural critic, writer, editor, educator and commentator, best known for his longtime stint as editor of Marvel’s Spider-Man Comics line, and as Stan Lee’s biographer.

Travis Gibb

Travis Gibb is an award-winning, Ringo Award–nominated comic book creator with over a decade of experience writing, publishing, and producing stories that blend sharp storytelling with bold, high-concept ideas. Dan Jurgens

Dan Jurgens began his comics career in 1981 as artist on DC Comics’ THE WARLORD. Soon after, he created, wrote and drew BOOSTER GOLD and added FLASH GORDON, LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES, GREEN ARROW and JUSTICE LEAGUE AMERICA to his résumé. Most notably, he logged a very long run as writer/artist on SUPERMAN, including the best selling DEATH OF SUPERMAN for which he won the National Cartoonists Society Award. Jurgens followed up with the mega-hit crossover ZERO HOUR, which redefined the DC Universe.

At Marvel Comics, he wrote and/or drew THE SENSATIONAL SPIDER-MAN, THE MIGHTY THOR and CAPTAIN AMERICA.

Jurgens then returned to DC Comics to write and/or draw GREEN ARROW and JUSTICE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL. He then revived the true Superman in the SUPERMAN: LOIS AND CLARK series, which featured the creation and establishment of Superman’s son, Jonathan Kent, as a major DC character. That was followed with a long stint on ACTION COMICS, which debuted in 1938, starring Superman. He continued that all the way through the landmark ACTION COMICS #1000. Dan followed that up with extended runs on BATMAN BEYOND and NIGHTWING.

Dan then returned to his favorite creation, Booster Gold, as he wrote the DC mini-series BLUE AND GOLD, starring Booster and the Blue Beetle in a project that evoked the best of “buddy cops” style movies. That year also happened to be the 30th anniversary of the DEATH OF SUPERMAN and Dan wrote and drew a 40-page story celebrating the event in THE DEATH OF SUPERMAN 30th ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL.

Most recently, Dan wrote the acclaimed THE BAT-MAN: FIRST KNIGHT series for DC’s Black Label imprint, which will have a sequel in late 2025. He also wrote and the SUPERMAN: HERO FOR ALL 2025 TREASURY edition, which revived the idea of tabloid sized comics with all new material. He has also been drawing a wide variety of covers for both DC and Marvel.

David J. Leblanc

David J. Leblanc's art education took shape at UMass/ Dartmouth where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Illustration from 1985-89. His wide-eyed fascination with comic books since he was a boy generated a passion for the genre that drives David J. Leblanc's considerable Pop-Expressionist paintings today.

Comic books fueled his early love for art and reading. After struggling for many years with how to integrate his boyhood passion into his paintings, David stumbled upon a book comprised of Action Comics covers featuring Superman from the 1930s-1950s. Drawing inspiration for his signature Action series, he combined the elements of Abstract Expressionism with the Pop Art elements of comic
books.

Mike Manley

Michael is an illustrator and storyteller with 40 year career working in comics and animation. Mike’s worked for Marvel Comics, (Darkhawk), DC Comics,(Batman and Shazam) He has also created storyboards, background and character designer for Disney, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, Warner Brothers Animation and more. Mike currently draws the syndicated comic strips: The Phantom and Judge Parker.

Mike is also the creator and editor of multi-Eisner Award nominated Draw! Magazine, and the co-host of the Pencil-to-Pencil Podcast

Mike has also taught drawing, Illustration animation and painting classes for the University of the Arts, PCAD, DCAD and The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts

David Michelinie

David Michelinie has been a professional writer for over 50
years. He has written more than 600 comic book stories, in
which he created several characters (Venom, Carnage,
Taskmaster) which have been featured in major motion pictures.
His comics career has spanned genres from westerns to war to
horror to super hero. In addition to his comics work, David has
published two novels, has placed short stories in anthologies
(WEREWOLVES: DEAD MOON RISING) and periodicals
(Spider-Man Magazine), is a published poet (POETIC IMAGES:
THE GREAT AMERICAN WEST) and has written scripts for the
Nicktoons animated TV series, “Iron Man Armored Adventures.”
His comic book biography of Mother Teresa won the Catholic
Book Award for Best Children’s Book, and his prose effort, “Lord
Pemberton’s Adjustment Service”, won the 2017 Pulp Factory
Award for Best Short Story.

Al Migrom

His credits include Marvel Fanfare, Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man, West Coast Avengers, and X-Factor. His career started at Charlton Comics in 1972 and moved to the next level as a penciler on Captain Marvel from 1975-77. As an editor at DC from 1977-78, he co-created the original Firestorm with Gerry Conway. Back at Marvel in 1979, he edited Marvel FanFare for it's 10 year run. Pencil credits include Amazing Spider-Man, The Avengers, West Coast Avengers, Mephisto, Secret Wars II, Kitty Pride & Wolverine, Spectacular Spider-Man, and Incredible Hulk. Rick Parker

Rick Parker is widely known as the artist of Beavis and Butt-Head Comic Book and is the illustrator of the Papercutz Slices series of Mad-Magazine style parodies of The Harry Potter books, The Hunger Games and The Walking Dead. His graphic novel memoir, DRAFTED (Abrams ComicArts, 2024) was listed as one of the top ten graphic novels of 2024 by Forbes Magazine and The Comics Beat.
Rick received The Inkpot Award at last year’s San Diego International Comics Convention where he was a special guest. Rick and his wife, the writer, Lisa Trusiani met at Marvel Comics 35 years ago and live in Maine.
And as if you didn't already know... Rick worked for Marvel for 20 years and lettered all four Spider-Man Comics in the 80's including Spider-Man #1 (the biggest selling comic of all time.)

Ryan Santos



Ryan Santos is a New England born illustrator, painter and portrait artist that trained in New York City at the School of Visual Arts. Ryan’s Art exhibited in New York as well as New England highlighting his diversity of style and media. Along with being a freelance artist he teaches various classes in Drawing and Oil Painting.

From his studio Ryan takes commissions and sells prints, cards and original art. Ryan Santos currently makes Dartmouth and the South Coast his home.

Bob Sharon

From 1978-2001, Bob was a colorist for #Marvel Comics. During that time he worked on almost every Marvel title at one time or another, mostly on long runs of GI Joe, Alien Legion, and the various Spider-Man titles.
His credits include nearly 1,800 issues in those years. A longer time and more credits than ANY other artist, including over 160 issues of #The Amazing Spider-Man, 99 issues of #Alpha Flight, Iron Man from 1979-1989, #Captain America from 1982-1989 and over 60 issues of #GIJoe from 1982-1994.(Personal favorites: Mike Zeck's MOKF and the Paul Smith run on Dr. Strange).
Since his departure from #Marvel he now works full-time on color commissions and stained glass work.

Joe St.Pierre

Joe St.Pierre began his comic book career at Valiant Comics, as penciler of RAI, and co-creator/writer/artist of SECRET WEAPONS.

Joe is the penciler of the most #1 issues featuring SPIDER-MAN and/or the Spider-Man family.

He has also worked as a writer and artist for Marvel (Gambit, Fantastic Four), DC (Aquaman, Green Lantern), Image (Megahurtz), IDW(Transformers), Boom (Power Rangers), MTV (Daria), Warner Bros. Animation (Batman Beyond), Discovery Channel, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, PBS and others.

Joe is the co-creator and illustrator of the FABIEN COUSTEAU EXPEDITIONS, a graphic novel series published by Simon & Schuster. GREAT WHITE SHARK ADVENTURE, JOURNEY UNDER THE ARCTIC and DEEP INTO THE AMAZON JUNGLE are in book stores and comic shops now!

Lisa Trusiani

Lisa Trusiani is a renaissance woman, writer, artist, advocate,and inventor. Lisa's career began as a storyboasrd artist and writer at Marvel Comics, where her award-winning stories in Barbie Comics shook away stereotypes around womanhood in favor of more empowering plot lines. Lisa was also the writer of Apartment 3-G, a nationally syndicated daily newspaper strip for King Featrures Syndicate. She was a finalist in Statples Invention Quest Competition. Throughout, Lisa also created original material for educational publishers, and wrote over 1,000 projects for corporations, including sales and marketing literature and web content. Lisa also won the Lupine Honors Award from the Maine Library Association for her book American Trailblazers. Lisa is the writer of Tygerlilly, a YA novel which is her masterpiece.

Keith Williams

Keith Williams, comic book inker, enrolled in the School of Visual Arts in New York City from 1976 to 1980. Majored in Media Arts and studied under Will Eisner, the creator of the Spirit comic strip. He received a Bachelor of Fine Art.

With the help of Marvel comic book artist and mentor Don Perlin, Keith started working for Marvel Comics in 1982 as a background inker. He worked for inkers including Joe Sinnott and Mike Esposito. At Marvel, he became the first John Romita Raider, an art correction group. Keith later became an assistant editor under Jim Owlsley (Christopher Priest) on the Spider-Man group of books. The two became the first all black editorial team in Marvel's history. He later became John Byrne's background artist on Alpha Flight, The Hulk, Superman and Action Comics.

Keith began inking regularly with the Web of Spider-Man, which lasted for four years. In between that time and after he worked on many other books at Marvel including The Silver Surfer and She-Hulk with John Byrne, Warlock, Quasar with Greg Capullo, Star Trek and the X-men.

At Dark Horse Comics, The Mask and Walter with artist Doug Manke and Star Wars Droids. At DC Comics, Superman, and the Lobo/ Mask graphic novel with Doug Manke. For Valiant, he worked on Quantum and Woody and the covers of X-O Man. At Moonstone Comics, The Kolchak Night Stalker Chronicles, Buckaroo Banzai and Domino Lady. For ten years he had worked on The Phantom for King Features Syndicate. And at Avatar Press he inked Lady Death and Crossed covers. A Crossed webisode comic, "Wish You Were Here" and the cover and interiors of the comic book Uber. He has also inked Avatar Press' published graphic novel Max Brook's Harlem Hellfighters. And has recently inked over Ron Frenz pencils for Marvel's Thor the Worthy one shot book.

Kyle Willis

Kyle Willis is a Florida based artist first published in Spin Magazine in 2009 with covers for Image Comics, Scout Comics, Orange Cone and several indie and self-published titles. Creator of Pouches, inventor of the Acid Drip style, currently focusing on collage and mosaic work, breathing new life into damaged comics.
